TMJ & Neuromuscular Dentistry
TMJ Relief That Starts With Data, Not Guesswork
Austin's leading neuromuscular dentistry practice, led by the Program Director of the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. We diagnose with precision, treat without surgery where possible, and give your jaw, your head, and your sleep a way forward.
If your jaw pops, your temples pound, or your shoulders never seem to let go, the source is often closer than you've been told.
Symptoms We Treat
The Symptoms Most People Get Dismissed For
TMJ disorders rarely show up as one problem. They arrive as a cluster, and they often get split between providers who each see a different piece.
- Jaw tightness, soreness, or locking
- Clicking, popping, or grating when opening the mouth
- Migraines, temple pressure, and recurring headaches
- Neck, shoulder, and upper-back tension that never fully lifts
- Facial muscle fatigue, especially late in the day
- Clenching and grinding that disrupts sleep
- Limited jaw movement when chewing, yawning, or speaking
If this list reads like your week, the cause may be something an everyday dental exam isn't designed to catch.
The Diagnostic
We Measure First. We Guess Never.
TMJ is a system problem. Your bite, your muscles, and your joint all work together, so diagnosing them together is the only way to find the real cause of your pain.
- Computer-guided bite analysis to capture exactly how your teeth come together under load.
- Muscle activity measurement to show where your jaw and facial muscles are overworking.
- 3D joint imaging to look inside the joint itself, not just around it.
- Postural and airway review because jaw function and breathing are often linked.
The result is a picture of what is actually happening, in data you can see with us. No more 'it's probably stress.'

LVI Program Director since 1997
Led by Dr. Kevin Winters
Treated by the Dentist Who Teaches Other Dentists Neuromuscular Care
Dr. Kevin Winters has practiced for over thirty years and has served as Program Director at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI Global) since 1997. LVI is where neuromuscular dentistry is taught at the highest level, and more than 10,000 dentists from 52 countries have trained under his direction.
That matters for one simple reason. When you come to us for TMJ care, you are not being treated by a dentist who took a weekend course. You are being treated by the person those dentists learn from.

Treatment Options
Non-Surgical First. Always.
Once we know the cause, we build a treatment plan around the least invasive path that will actually resolve it. Depending on what we find, your care may include:
- Neuromuscular orthotics. A precision-made appliance that repositions the jaw into its ideal resting posture, relieving muscle strain and joint pressure.
- Occlusal adjustment. Fine-tuning how your teeth meet so they stop fighting your bite.
- Bite realignment. Staged reshaping or restoration so the relief you feel during treatment becomes permanent.
- Snore and sleep appliances. When airway issues are part of the picture, we address them together.
- Integration into full mouth reconstruction. When teeth have been worn by years of clenching, we rebuild them in a way that holds your new bite.
Surgery is rarely the answer, and in our practice, it is never the first one.
Patient Experiences
What Our Patients Say
I've been a client for years and love this dentist! This practice invests in high tech dentistry and I highly recommend!
The techs and the staff are so delightful and thorough. Everyone feels like a super expert in the field. A real tier above the rest.
The Environment
Care That Doesn't Add to Your Tension
Coming in for TMJ treatment shouldn't tighten the very muscles we're trying to calm. That is why every appointment happens in a private suite with soft lighting, aromatherapy, heated neck rolls, and weighted blankets. Streaming is yours to choose. Our on-site massage therapist can join select appointments to help your shoulders and neck let go before, during, or after treatment. The whole experience is designed so your body is already in the state we're trying to get it to.
Financial Options
Care Built Around Your Findings, Not Your Coverage
The Hills Dental Spa is a fee-for-service practice, which means your TMJ treatment plan is shaped by what the diagnostic actually shows, not by what an insurance company will partially pay for. For a condition that has been half-treated by most insurance-led practices, this difference is usually the reason real relief finally becomes possible.
- Flexible financing through CareCredit, Cherry, and Proceed Finance.
- Pre-qualification handled by our concierge team.
- Out-of-network filing handled on your behalf so any reimbursement you're entitled to comes back to you.
- Transparent pricing reviewed with you before treatment begins.
